With 39 years within the insurance market, Richard’s expertise spans corporate insurance broking, business development, and strategic management. He has a proven track record of establishing and growing niche insurance solutions, developing long-term client relationships, and navigating regulatory compliance within the financial services sector. Richard grew up in Surrey and was educated at Cranleigh School. After finishing his education, he began his career in insurance locally before moving to the London insurance market, where he specialised in product innovation. His career took off in the early 90’s working at a dynamic fast growing insurance broking firm where his skills in business development, relationship management, and market negotiations were first developed, and he flourished. He enjoyed design and development of unique insurance solutions for sports and activity operations while also honing his skills in marketing and sponsorship management. He went on to develop his career as a Lloyd’s broker active in international business development roles specialising in sports. In 2000 he became the founder and Managing Director of his own insurance firm where he successfully built an insurance brokerage, focusing on educational travel and corporate insurance risk management. His creativity and entrepreneurial spirit attracted some of the UK’s leading educational tour operators, who sought his expertise in creating and implementing Accident & Health and general insurance portfolios. Passionate about innovation and problem-solving, Richard continued to design insurance products, sourced and managed high-value accounts, and led operational functions to drive business growth. A natural leader, Richard has a strong interest in education and mentoring, helping young professionals find their career path. He enjoys building teams, unlocking potential, and inspiring new opportunities at every turn. Outside of work, Richard is happily married, and he enjoys walking and cycling through the scenic South Downs, as well as being an avid tennis player. He has two sons, one of whom is a successful insurance broker in the London insurance market and the other is a doctor in Australia.
