Paul Aplin OBE

Paul Aplin is a well-known speaker and writer on tax and technology. He is a member of HM Revenue & Customs Administrative Burdens Advisory Board and was formerly a member of the Board of the Office of Tax Simplification at HM Treasury. He holds a number of other positions including Senior Adviser for the personal tax app untied. He was a tax partner with an independent West Country firm for almost 30 years. He was appointed OBE in 2009 for services to the accountancy profession and public service. Paul studied Biochemistry at Anglia Ruskin University, earning a BSc in 1978. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1985 and as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 1989. He served as president of ICAEW for 2018/2019 and is currently Vice President of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. Paul is a volunteer mentor at Anglia Ruskin University, helping students at the institution where he studied 47 years prior.
