Lt Col (Retd) Kathie Knell has over 20 years’ experience in the military, Government and private sector. During her Army career she served on operational deployments in Bosnia, Northern Ireland, Jamaica, Belize and was the Training Development Advisor to HM Sultan of Brunei. She was awarded an MBE for her work on operational training for Defence. Elected Deputy Chair for the NATO Committee on Gender Perspectives (NCGP), she worked with NATO Countries and partners to forward the Women Peace and Security agenda. Following her work as part of the ‘Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict’, she was selected to the UK FCDO ‘Team of Experts’. Currently she works as an Advisor to the Advisory Team working with the Government of Somalia, providing advice on human security. As a leadership coach and mentor, she is part of Inspirational Group’s Global initiative to develop young leaders. She has a strong background in the private sector and in supporting volunteering projects. She enjoys sport and has cycled from Cairo to Cape Town.
