Andy spent his childhood years in the west highlands of Scotland, an area of stunning beauty if the weather is kind
Following a business degree, he started his career in the Clydesdale Bank as a graduate trainee, moving around a number of branches and head office functions whilst studying for the Chartered Institute of Banking exams.
Andy wished to specialise in business finance and moved into the Asset-Based Lending industry where he spent 19 happy years in various roles. These included account management, leading an internet start-up, setting up new geographical locations, leading regions and central functions, board responsibilities leading the northern division, and also acting as sales and marketing director.
During this time, he also completed an MBA at Edinburgh University whilst bringing up two young children, with his wife, Debbie
Andy then moved into business turnaround for 3 years working in the Recruitment and Logistics sectors and this led him by chance to review the GreenAcres Group, a Woodland Burial company. He was immediately taken by the business, its people, and the opportunity, and he led the MBO of the business in 2017. This led to a merger, and an institutional fundraising exercise in 2018, and since then he has been working on growing the business to become more influential in the sector.
Andy was proud to win WeDo Scotland’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2019 recognising the transformation of the GreenAcres Group.
